About CBD

CBD (cannabidiol) is an all-natural, organic compound found in hemp. Hemp is a relative of the cannabis plant. But unlike cannabis (marijuana), it has very low amounts of THC, the compound that makes people feel high. The CBD in hemp extract provides a variety of health benefits without the high.

In fact, CBD is one of the most promising organic compounds known to humans. Recent scientific and medical research is revealing its many benefits including treating discomfort, inflammation, stress, sleeplessness, irritated skin, and much more.

CBD is one of the most promising organic compounds known to humans. Recent scientific and medical research is revealing its many benefits including treating discomfort, inflammation, stress, sleeplessness, irritated skin, and much more.

CBD comes from Hemp which is a relative of the cannabis (marijuana) plant. But unlike marijuana, it has very low amounts of THC, the compound that makes people feel high. The CBD in hemp extract provides health benefits without the high. CBD is also federally legal in all 50 states.

Full Spectrum CBD includes many other cannabinoids and compounds of the cannabis plant including up to .3% THC. Full Spectrum is better than broad spectrum CBD or CBD isolate because Full Spectrum CBD includes additional cannabinoids besides CBD that come from the hemp plant including CBDa, CBN, THC, etc. These cannabinoids add to the effectiveness of CBD making the effects more noticeable!

To understand what makes CBD work, we first need to understand how all natural compounds work in our bodies. Terpenoids from plants connect to cellular receptors throughout your body, achieving different effects. They are used as neurotransmitters, sending signals from one part of your body to another. One of the things that makes CBD unique is the fact that it connects with over 65 different receptors in your body! That is amazing for a single compound. As a result, CBD is able to impact many different body systems and functions, from sleep, to pain, to mood. This is why CBD offers so many treatment options.

CBD can assist in sending the message to reduce inflammation in your gut or a twisted ankle. CBD can also stimulate serotonin receptors in the brain that help regulate and improve mood. On top of that, CBD can bond to receptors throughout your body that make anandamide, your body’s natural pain-killer, more available to ease pain. It can even bond to receptors that help improve the quality and depth of sleep. CBD works with receptors throughout your body to help maximize your health.

Cannabinoids work like instruments in an orchestra: one instrument is wonderful, but combining many instruments together in a larger ensemble, the effect is even more powerful. The powerful effect of combining multiple cannabinoids is called the Entourage Effect. Think of CBD like the lead performer. It is a remarkable organic compound, able to connect with over 65 cellular receptors in your body. But it is not as powerful when it is a one-man show. When the ensemble of cannabinoids is increased, so are the benefits. Other cannabinoids have unique abilities that CBD does not have, often connecting with different cellular receptors. And when particular cannabinoids are given greater parts to play by boosting their levels, the nature of the performance changes. A product can become more effective at addressing particular issues like discomfort, inflammation, sleep, or stress. The future of CBD is combining it with other cannabinoids to accomplish the desired effect.

You can use CBD and feel the positive effects from it in a few different ways. You can use it topically through our Creams, Balms, or Gels, or orally through our Oils or Gummies. The products you choose can be based on personal preference; maybe you prefer ingesting your CBD instead of rubbing it on your skin or maybe you prefer a combination of both topical and oral. It can also be based on the effect you are hoping to achieve like better sleep, pain and inflammation or stress. Everyone is different so what works for others might not work for you. Sometimes it takes a little experimenting!

We encourage you to read our blog post on this topic. We generally recommend beginning CBD with a small dose (25mg), then paying attention to your body’s response. If you don’t feel enough of a response, we then encourage you to slowly increase your dosage until you notice a difference. When In doubt, follow the dosing guidelines for our products.

Since CBD does not have psychoactive effects and is not addictive, it is acceptable for most people to take several servings a day. For example, if you are treating chronic arthritis, you may want to take Relieve CBD three times a day and then have some Rest CBD before bed. Most people will not experience ill-effects from taking several doses of CBD a day.

Our fastest acting product is our CBD gummies! They take 15 minutes to start feeling the effects. However, our oils and mints take 30 mins to an hour and our softgels take 1-2 hours before feeling the effects, however, they are longer lasting.

For more information, check out our blog post about “Which Ingestible CBD is Best for Me? A Comparison of CBD Softgels, Oils, Gummies, and Mints”

CBD will generally stay in your system for 3-4 days. It depends on how frequently and how much CBD you take, as well as your health and lifestyle. However, you are likely to notice the effects of CBD for only 6 hours. Please check out our blog post “How Long Does CBD Stay in Your System?” for more information.

Yes, it is legal nationwide. Because the product only contains trace amounts of THC, our CBD is non-psychoactive and legal in all 50 states without a prescription. CBD Oil and other hemp products are considered to be food-based. As such, there are no restrictions on the production, sale, and consumption of hemp extract oil (CBD) in the United States.

We use the whole plant when creating our Full Spectrum Hemp Extract. The CBD and other healthful terpenes and flavonoids are found throughout the plant, especially its leaves and buds (colas). Interestingly, the seeds contain only trace amounts of CBD. So if you want Full Spectrum CBD, do not purchase Hemp Seed Oil from other companies, as it is not the same.

About Mission Farms

You can probably relate to the start of our story. We have each had health challenges, or loved ones with health challenges, that the present pharmaceutical options weren’t helping. Either we weren’t getting the relief we desired, the root cause wasn’t being addressed, or we had ongoing concerns with side-effects and overall health risks that came with contemporary treatments. Enter CBD. Read the rest of our story here.

Our products are all hand-crafted using hemp grown in the Bend, Oregon region, also known as the “Napa Valley of Hemp”. The nutrient-rich, volcanic soil from Central Oregon helps us grow the healthy, tall, and lush hemp plants we use in all our CBD products. Our plants are planted, tended, and harvested by hand.  We then press the oils and infuse them with organic flavorings and essential oils. So, everything we sell is proudly made in the USA, specifically in Oregon.

We selected farms that had no pesticides used for many years. We then did extensive soil testing to ensure that there were no pesticides or heavy metals in the soil. Using land with clean soil was very important to us. In addition, we only use an organic farming protocol on those fields.

Safety Questions

No, you cannot get high by using Mission Farms CBD. Our products are all made from hemp, not marijuana. Our products are all lab-tested by a third-party and we can guarantee that they have less than .3% THC in them. This is the legal limit of THC in any CBD products, therefore, you can rest assured you will not get high using our products. You can see our third-party lab tests here. We still recommend using our products as directed on their labels.

No, you will not overdose and risk your life by taking too much CBD. Because CBD is not a narcotic or psychotropic drug, it doesn’t pose a life-threatening risk. Even doses up to 10x the recommended dose rarely have side effects. However, as with all supplements, it is best to follow the dosing guidelines.

No, CBD does not have addictive properties.

Please check out our blog post “Can You Get Addicted to CBD?” for more information on this topic.

Store your CBD products in a relatively cool, dark location. You do not need to refrigerate them.

Our CBD oils, mints, gels, balm sticks, and roll-ons can be stored for up to one year from manufacturing date. Our CBD Gummies and CBD Creams should be used within six months of manufacturing.

While it is highly unlikely that you would fail a drug test by using CBD, we cannot guarantee drug test results. The amount of THC in our CBD products is less than .3%. We know this because of third-party lab testing we conduct on our products. Although you will only be consuming a tiny amount of THC,  it’s possible that trace amounts could be seen in some drug tests. It’s our understanding that you would need to be consuming a considerable amount of CBD for this to happen, but it’s definitely something to consider.

For those concerned about testing positive for THC, our THC-FREE CBD Oil or CBD Mints are the best option.

Additionally, you can view our third-party lab results here.

Yes, we perform third-party testing by an independent lab. These test results verify the amount of CBD and THC in our products, as well as the fact that they are chemical-free and pesticide-free. We cannot sell any CBD products unless they are confirmed to have less than .3% THC in them. You can be assured our products are safe and pure for you!

You can view our third-party lab results on our Lab Results page.

We test both the hemp and the hemp extract for pesticides, solvents, heavy metals and fungus. This testing is required by the State of Oregon and only after these tests are passed can that hemp extract be used in a consumer product. These tests are labeled “Distillate” on our Lab Results page.

We use the hemp extract that has passed these tests for our products. We are only required to test cannabinoid levels (CBD, THC) in the final product because the other tests were performed at earlier stages. We publish these cannabinoid potency tests on the final products on our Lab Results page.

So, yes we do testing for pesticides, solvents, heavy metals, and fungus, but we don’t publish those tests on our website.

We encourage parents to consult a doctor and do research on their own before giving CBD products to their kids.

There isn’t a definitive answer on whether CBD is safe for breastfeeding because there is a lack of studies on it. When we get inquiries from breastfeeding moms we let them know that we cannot advise them what to do, and therefore, we don’t keep track of breastfeeding moms who are using our products. I’m sorry we can’t be of greater help in this area.

The CBD from our topical products does not enter your bloodstream so it is safe for use while breastfeeding. For that same reason, it does not have the same effect on issues like anxiety, depression, sleep, and pain.

For our ingestible products, we only use essential oils that are identified as GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) for consumption. Essential oils are commonly used in foods for flavoring. We are very careful to dilute the essential oils to a degree that they do not cause any harm, following guidelines for food companies. If essential oils are ingested in a concentrated format, they can be harmful, so we are careful to follow guidelines used by food companies.

CBD can inhibit the cytochrome P450 enzyme, which is involved in metabolizing some medications. Compounds in grapefruit inhibit the same enzyme group. So if a medication warns against eating grapefruit before or after taking it, we recommend against using CBD. Check your medications to see if they warn against consuming grapefruit. Sometimes, CBD can impact the absorption rate of pharmaceuticals that are also affected by grapefruit. So, if you are taking medication that advises you not to eat grapefruit, then you want to take precautions with CBD as well.

Customers frequently comment on how great our CBD tastes. Great tasting CBD is altogether too rare. You might think that we use essential oils simply to flavor our CBD. Their delicious, all-natural flavors are certainly a benefit, but our purposes run much deeper.

Most companies sell a plain old bottle of CBD. We combine our premium, Full Spectrum CBD with other natural terpenes in essential oils because it is more effective.

Powerful, Targeted Relief

Essential oils are primarily composed of organic compounds called terpenes. Terpenes are utilized by your endocannabinoid system along with CBD to meet specific needs. We each have an endocannabinoid system. It is a body system designed to regulate our other body systems like immunity, sleep, mood, digestion, nerves (pain and pleasure), and much more. It uses messengers–like CBD and terpenes–to tell other body systems to turn on or off, up or down. For example, it is the endocannabinoid system that tells your immune system to “back off” if it is having an over-active response.

We select essential oils with terpenes that help our oils target specific needs. Our Rest line has essential oils that help promote a better night’s sleep. Our Relax line has essential oils that help calm your nerves. Our Relieve line has essential oils that reduce inflammation and discomfort. Our Pure line does not target specific issues, but is a great all-around CBD oil.

Both goat milk and CBD are anti-inflammatory and known to bring relief and even reprieve for people with skin conditions. Our Full Spectrum CBD soothes discomfort and itching by bonding with the pain receptors in cells, while the goat milk gently moisturizes. The goat milk cream we use is transdermal, which means the impact is absorbed deeply into your skin.

CBG (cannabigerol) is often called the “mother cannabinoid” since all other cannabinoids start as CBG. It is the first cannabinoid produced by the hemp plant. CBG has unique properties that make it effective for easing anxious thoughts and feelings. CBG is able to bind with certain endocannabinoid receptors in the brain that help you relax. CBG has also been linked to increased dopamine levels, which support a sense of calm and well-being.

CBDa (cannabidiolic acid) is the form of CBD as it occurs naturally in the hemp plant. Believe it or not, there is very little CBD in hemp, but there is a lot of CBDa. When the hemp plant is processed and heated, the CBDa loses some atoms and turns into CBD. So the most natural version of CBD is actually CBDa. While it has many similarities to CBD, its slight molecular differences give it some unique characteristics and benefits. Similar to CBD, CBDa has a variety of anti-inflammatory effects, but the unique way it interacts with serotonin receptors shows great promise for its benefits for stress, anxiety, sleep, and nausea. If you are looking for all-natural ways to improve a depressed mood or reduce stress, CBDa oil holds great potential.

In the case of our Full Spectrum Max Relax CBD Oil, we have increased the levels of both CBG (20%) and CBDa (10%) to create a CBD Oil that provides the most powerful, targeted relief for everyday stress. Studies show that the more Full Spectrum a CBD product is — the greater its entourage of other cannabinoids — the more effective the product is. While CBD is a standout cannabinoid, connecting with over 65 cellular receptors, other cannabinoids have unique properties that CBD does not have and are able to connect with different cellular receptors.

We have many customers who use the cream on their face and report both a reduction in acne and in fine wrinkles. Some of the reports are quite dramatic! Any of our creams can be used on your face, however, our Pure CBD Cream has no additional essential oils, so if you have sensitive skin, we recommend using that one.

There is no alcohol in any of our CBD Oils. They are purely oil-based, and primarily organic MCT oil. The flavorings are organic, natural, oil-based flavorings.

We use organically-farmed, Full Spectrum CBD distillate in most of our products, which is the most effective form of CBD. Our CBD Mints and THC-Free CBD Oil use CBD Isolate, rather than Full Spectrum CBD.

You can learn more about our top-quality CBD here.

Our CBD Oil is processed using ethanol, which is a common grain alcohol, like vodka. There is no alcohol left behind from the ethanol process. It is the safest way to process hemp and it leaves no residual chemicals or solvents behind, and also results in a Full Spectrum CBD oil rich in healthy terpenes and cannabinoids that increase the effectiveness of CBD.
